Her Story
From clinical psychology to transforming workplace wellness culture
The Beginning
Michelle’s fascination with emotional wellness started during her psychology studies at NUS. She noticed something that most people don’t talk about openly — Singapore’s work culture creates a unique kind of pressure. The kiasu mentality, the constant drive to excel, the fear of falling behind. It’s real, and it’s exhausting. She realized that while individual therapy helps, the system itself needed to change.
Clinical Years
After completing her Master’s degree in 2012, Michelle spent five years working as a clinical psychologist at a leading private psychology clinic in Orchard. She worked one-on-one with professionals experiencing severe burnout, anxiety, and work-related stress. During these years, she developed specialized therapeutic approaches that actually work for Singapore’s high-pressure environment. But she saw a pattern — most people came in after they’d already hit a breaking point. Michelle wanted to help people before that happened.
Building Serenity Works
In 2017, Michelle made the move to organizational wellness consulting. This is where she found her real passion. She started designing preventative wellness programs for companies — not just stress management workshops, but actual cultural change. She’s worked with organizations in finance, tech, healthcare, and more. Her seminars don’t just teach breathing techniques. They address the deeper issue: how do you build healthy boundaries in a culture that rewards overwork? How do you practice self-care when you’re constantly busy? How do you manage the stress without feeling like you’re giving up on your goals?
What She Does Now
Today, Michelle leads the wellness division at Serenity Works Singapore. She designs corporate seminars, trains workplace wellness champions, and creates resources that are actually practical. Over 8,000 professionals have benefited from her work. She’s facilitated 150+ seminars and trained more than 40 wellness champions across Singapore. But numbers don’t tell the whole story. What matters is that people are sleeping better. They’re setting boundaries without guilt. They’re taking weekends seriously. They’re finding balance that feels real, not impossible.
Her Approach
Michelle doesn’t believe in one-size-fits-all wellness. Her approach combines evidence-based psychological principles with practical, culturally-informed strategies. She understands Singapore. She gets that telling someone to “just relax” doesn’t work when they’re in a competitive industry. Her methods acknowledge the real pressures while showing how to thrive within them. She’s particularly passionate about making wellness accessible — no expensive retreats or exclusive programs. Just solid, evidence-based strategies that work in real life.
